F16RV Overview

This Dell Modular M.2 Boss Controller Card is designed to work in conjunction with the EMC PowerEdge Mx740C server to provide enhanced storage and control capabilities. The card connects to the server through a dedicated PCIe slot and provides connectivity for M.2 SSDs through two M.2 PCIe NVMe slots. The card supports RAID configurations, which allows multiple SSDs to be combined into a single logical volume for improved performance, reliability, and data protection.
This card also includes a built-in microcontroller, which provides additional functionality such as hardware-based RAID management, advanced monitoring and reporting capabilities, and support for self-encrypting drives (SEDs).
